A Special Communication of the Grand Lodge of Maine was holden at Masons' Hall, in Portland, June 9th, A.D. 1820.

Voted, That the M. W. Grand Master he authorized and requested to divide the State of Maine into such Masonic Districts from time to time as he may judge proper, and to appoint District Deputy Grand Masters in and over the same.
A petition from several brethren in Waterville praying for a new Lodge, by the name of Waterville Lodge, was read and committed to the same committee who have under consideration the petition from Gardiner, viz: R. W. Peleg Sprague, Robert P. Dunlap and Wm. Haskell.

Voted, That R. W. George Thacher, Jr., be excused from serving on the committee for petitioning for an act of incorporation, and that R. W. William Swan, Senior Grand Warden, be added to that committee.
Voted, That R. W. William Swan and R. W. Samuel Baker be a committee to examine and audit accounts.
The Grand Lodge then adjourned to the twenty-third day of June, inst., then to meet at this place at seven o'clock in the evening.

Grand Lodge of Maine, June 10, 1820.
Agreeably to the vote and request of the Grand Lodge at the Communication of June 9, 1820, the State is hereby divided into the following Masonic Districts, viz :
First District—to be composed of the following Lodges :
Portland, Portland; York, Kennebunk;
Saco, Saco; Freeport, Freeport;
Cumberland, New Gloucester; Adoniram, Limington;
Ancient Land-Mark, Portland; Tranquil, Minot.
Second District—to be composed of the following Lodges:
Pythagorean, Fryeburg; Oriental Star, Livermore;
Oriental, Bridgton; Blazing Star, Rumford.
Oxford, Paris ;
Third District—to be composed of the following Lodges:
Kennebec, Hallowell; Northern Star, Anson;
Maine, Farmington; Temple, Winthrop.
Village, Bowdoinham;
Fourth District—to be composed of the following Lodges :
Solar, Bath; Amity, Camden;
United, Brunswick; Orient, Thomaston;
Lincoln, Wiscasset; St. George, Warren.

Voted, That the prayer of the petition of Gideon W. Olney and others for a new Lodge to be established at Gardiner, by the name of Hermon Lodge, be granted.
A letter from the Corresponding Grand Secretary of the M. W. Grand Lodge of Massachusetts in answer to one addressed to them from this Grand Lodge, was read.

Voted, That this Grand Lodge exceedingly regrets that any misapprehension should have prevented the attendance of our parent Grand Lodge, from the hands of whose Grand Master it would have afforded us so much satisfaction to receive the Jewels which their liberal and truly masonic resolutions have enabled us to wear.
It was announced from the chair that the M. W. Grand Lodge of New Hampshire had accepted the invitation of this Grand Lodge to assist in the Consecration and Installation of its officers, &c, and had arrived in town.
Voted, That R. W. Brothers Nathaniel Coffin, Josiah Calef and George Thacher, Jr., be a committee to wait upon the M. W. Grand Lodge of New Hampshire, and in the name of this Grand Lodge and all the Fraternity under its jurisdiction, bid them a cordial welcome to the State of Maine.
Grand Lodge closed to meet again to-morrow morning at eight o'clock.
