The Committee on Foreign Correspondence, having examined the papers and documents submitted to them, find that they consist of the Journals of proceedings, By-Laws, Addresses and Letters of the Grand Lodges of the States of New Jersey, Mississippi, New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Kentucky and Massachusetts, and also of the Grand Chapters of the States of New Hampshire and Tennessee; and although there appears to be much useful and interesting matter contained in them, your Committee have seen nothing that requires the particular action of this Grand

Which is respectfully submitted,
A. B. THOMPSON, Committee.

FIRST DISTRICT.
To the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of the State of Maine.
The ill Health of my family will prevent my meeting the Grand Lodge at their approaching Annual Communication. I had made my arrangements to be at Augusta this week, but the severe sickness of two children forbids my going from home.
I have not visited the several lodges in my district the past season. Very few of them meet regularly I am told. I addressed a circular letter to each lodge in my jurisdiction, requesting them to make their annual returns to me by the 1st of January 1837. But I have received returns from two lodges only, viz: from the United Lodge, at Brunswick, with $1.50 dues to the Grand Lodge, and a return from Ancient Landmark Lodge, at Portland, but no fees. The returns I now enclose to you, to be laid before the Grand Lodge at their meeting. The $1.50 I will pay over the first personal opportunity I have. I request I may not be re-appointed D. D. G. Master of this district, as I shall not be able to attend to the duties of the office.
Gorham, Jan. 16, 1837. JOSIAH PIERCE, D. D. G. M. 1st M. D.
