A Special Communication of the M. W. Grand Lodge of Maine was held at Portland, for the purpose of constituting Brotherhood Lodge, No. 218.
The Grand Lodge was opened in ample form in an apartment of the Masonic Hall of Corner Stone Lodge, No. 216, Poland Street, at 4.30 P. M. present:

Brotherhood Lodge, No. 218, was Constituted in Due and Ancient Form by the Grand Officers and Proclamation made.
M. W. Brother Paul L. Powers presented the lodge with an Altar Bible, properly inscribed for which the Master expressed appreciation.
Grand Master Burbank presided over the election of officers which resulted as follows:

three brethren as members of the Finance Committee and three as members of the Board of Relief.
The Grand Lodge Officers retired and the Grand Master closed Grand Lodge in an adjoining apartment of the lodge in Ample Form.
A Buffet Supper was served after which the officers, elected and appointed were installed by M. W. Brother Paul L. Powers, assisted by R. W. Brother Norman L. Lindquist, as Marshal, and W. Brother Warren Moses as Chaplain.

Gifts were presented by Hiram Lodge, No. 180, and Corner Stone Lodge, No. 216.
At the conclusion of the installation Past Grand Masters David L. Wilson, Clark D. Chapman and Ralph J. Pollard were called upon and each brought messages of inspiration and congratulations to the officers and brethren of the new lodge.

Also 306 delegates, representing 190 of the 208 chartered lodges; 11 of the living Past Grand Masters, with 26 of the 39 Permanent Members, including 55 of the 76 Representatives of the other Grand Lodges, together with visiting Brethren.
The Grand Lodge was opened in ample form, prayer being offered by the M. W. Bro. and Rev. David L. Wilson, LHD., Grand Chaplain.
On motion of R. W. John M. Littlefield, it was
Voted, To dispense with the reading of the records of the last Annual Communication and that as printed they be confirmed.
Voted, That all Master Masons in good standing be admitted as visitors during the Annual Communication.
Voted, That the Grand Tyler be authorized to employ assistants, not exceeding four, to aid him in the work of his office during the session of the Grand Lodge, and that the Committee on Pay Roll be authorized to place the names of such employees upon the payroll, and that they receive the usual per diem for their services.
