District 19 Community Betterment Project: Eagle Flight Cage

Presentation of fundsCompleted 96 foot long x 24 foot wide foot posted raptor flight cage. The ten lodges of the 19th District worked from April to October to fabricate a much needed raptor flight cage suitable for rehabilitating large raptors, particularly eagles, in Maine.

Annual May Chowderfest

Presentation of funds to York Food PantyWor. William Kurtz is the father of outreach at St. Aspinquid Lodge as he with help from R.W. Bob Hoyt started an Annual Chowderfest over a decade ago to reach out to those in need of food assistance in our community via York Food Panty. R.W. Hoyt solicits food from various vendors, cooks the chowders and the Couples Club sells the tickets and provides the servers. Here Wor. Kurtz and R.W. Hoyt present the Chowderfest proceeds to Fran Kirschner and Marrianne Quinn who volunteer their time to operate York Food Panty.

75 Years Service to Freemasonry

June 6, 2006 was a special occasion at the St. Aspinquid Lodge No. 198 Annual Stated Meeting as Wor. G. Edward Cooper was honored for 75 years of service to Freemasonry in St. Aspinquid Lodge. His nephew Wor. George Cooper added the fifth star to Wor. G. Edward Cooper's 50 year Veterans Medal.

Community Betterment Program: John Hancock Warehouse

Painting the John Hancock WarehouseThe Square and Compass Couples Club at St. Aspinquid Lodge volunteered to paine and refurbish the windows of the John Hancock Warehouse of the York Historical Society. Bro. Schermer, a painter by profession considered the lack of paint on such an historic building was disrespectful to the memory of Bro. Hancock. So, with a matching grant from Grand Lodge a dozen men and women of the Couples Club painted the building and refurbished the windows. The paint restored the building to its' original color.

Dedicating a New Flagpole

Louise Works and her family donated a new fiberglass flagpole to St. Aspinquid Lodge in memory of her husband Wor. Leon Works, P.M. Wor. Poulin is presenting a flag flown in Iraq as Defense Secretary Rumsfeld flew over the area during Operating Iraqi Freedom. The flag was raised by Louise and her son as as M.W. Claire Tusch officially dedicated the flagpole.
